In preparation for the 2025 season, we will be launching a beta release of the new registration platform for the 2024 season. We intend to release the new participant registration platform in full for the 2025 season encompassing feedback and iterative release cycles, whilst providing transparent communication, user guides, training and increased customer support.

What is a Beta Release?

A Beta Release is the final round before releasing a product to a wide audience, and acts as an opportunity for real users to use a product in a production environment to uncover any bugs or issues in a controlled setting prior to a general release.

Beta users are “real” users and conduct their work in a production environment that runs on the same hardware and networks as the anticipated final release. This also means it’s the first chance for full live environment testing as those tests can’t be conducted in a ‘lab’ or staging environment.

Why is Football Australia doing a Beta Release?

The beta release approach aligns with our commitment to a consultative and considered rollout, as a result of stakeholder feedback and learning from past digital platform launches. Recognizing potential challenges, the beta release aims to protect relevant stakeholders from reputational and operational risks.

Across last year, we’ve gathered feedback, scaled our infrastructure, and made many improvements that will help participants and admins to engage in the registration process pertaining to football.

A Beta Release allows us to engage with early adopters and those who are willing to provide further input in growing and improving our digital assets for our football community.

Thank you to everyone who will be involved in our Beta Release, or who has tried out the product during our user testing, hopped on calls with us, and shared your thoughts. Your usage and insights have been invaluable in helping us prioritise improvements and has supported us in getting Football Australia to this milestone.
