Quick summary

An International Transfer Certificate (ITC) is required for every player aged 10 years or older who is playing for the first time and is not an Australian citizen or whose last football registration was overseas. This is a FIFA requirement to ensure players are not under contract and reduce child exploitation in football, this is applicable even if the player is an Australian citizen or if they have been registered in Australia previously before going overseas and playing football. It is an important requirement for returning and perspective players, and if failed to follow, can have ramifications for both your club and Football Australia.

To obtain an ITC you will need to complete a registration through PlayFootball, players will be prompted to answer the following question on their previous playing history overseas:

If you do not have a PlayFootball account, please create one at the following link:

https://account.footballnetwork.com.au/register

**Please note, for parents/guardians creating an account for their child, it is crucial to create the account in your own name and not your child's. If you do create an account in your child's name, you will experience an error message called 'Results Vault Error', as the PlayFootball system will think a child under 18 is registering. You will be able to register your child as a linked participant and select 'Register my child' during the registration process**

Key Notes

  • ITCs are requested during the registration process
  • ITCs can only be requested once submitted through a player's PlayFootball registration.

  • Player's that come under either the Orange, Red or Aqua Form will require approval from the Players' Status Chamber

Steps to Completion

Requesting an ITC

Step 1: Sign in/sign up to your Football account using this link https://account.footballnetwork.com.au/
Please note: if you are a new account holder, you must create your account through PlayFootball and not
social sign in via Facebook or Google

Step 2: Place a registration to a club, you will be prompted to search for a club in the club/association finder

Step 3: Select "No - my last registration was overseas" and fill out the country of last registration, the club's name and the year you last played. **It is vital that you list the last football club you played for overseas

Step 4: Complete the ITC Minor Application & Declaration Form and the form relevant to the minor's situation

Step 5: Provide passport and all documentation to member federation

The relevant forms can be found below.

**Important: Football Australia must have all required documentation before they can submit the ITC, your child is ineligible to play football in Australia if this documentation is not received and the ITC is not cleared.

What's Next?
The player's request is sent to Football Australia, players are encouraged to send all documentation to their Member Federation to help expedite the request.

  • Once you have placed your registration you will receive the following confirmation message and an email detailing the process.

  • Your participant portal should be used to track your ITC request - all new ITC requests will have a 'Pending ITC' status - Participant Portal login.

  • When your ITC has been sent off to the overseas national association and they have confirmed your previous record of registration Football Australia can then request the ITC. Football Australia will update your ITC status to 'ITC FFA Requested' and the date will be entered. This is where the 7-day period starts, the national association have 7 days to deliver the ITC to Football Australia. If however, the national association does not deliver the ITC within the 7-day period, then after 7 days you will receive a provisional ITC which will allow you to play football in Australia.

  • Once you have received email confirmation such as below from Football Australia stating that your ITC is cleared, only then can you play football in Australia.

TIP: Minor ITCs take longer to process than Amateur Adult ITCs, clubs should allow ≈ 20-30 days from the date all documents have been forwarded to their respective Member Federation to hear a decision from the Players' Status Chamber (FIFA). However, during peak periods this time frame may vary.
